At 16:35hrs on the 7th September 1940, the start of phase Three of the Battle of Britain, Two waves totalling 350 enemy aircraft were approaching London. He scrambled in Hurricane V.7254 to intercept them. A fierce aerial battle ensued and he was killed. |
